"Habitations in New France" by Joyce Banachowski

Our ancestors considered themselves to be Frenchmen and were interested in building habitations, not forts. They were skilled carpenters who used sawn boards and other construction methods common in Normandy, Champagne or Picardy. These habitations resembled a typical 16th Century French village. Inside, the habitation would contain individual houses, a storehouse, artisan houses, shops and other public buildings. Outside were gardens, a cemetery and the drainage ditch. Four illustrations show habitations from 1604-1626.

"Two Western Québec Families at the Origin of the Christian Catholic Church in Illinois and Wisconsin" by Sere A. Thériault

This recounts the discovery of how two families, the Laviolettes and the Robillards helped Father Chiniquy establish the church in Illinois. Includes brief outline of their genealogy and contribution.
